St Alnoth of Stowe

Today (27 February) we commemorate the Holy Martyr Alnoth of Stowe, nr. Bugbrooke (ca. 700). Dr Baring-Gould’s summary is brief and to the point: ‘S. Alnoth was a hermit who had been a cowherd of S Wereburga. Embracing the eremitical life, settled in a wood at Stowe, near Bugbrook, in Northamptonshire, but was murdered by robbers. His body was buried at Stowe. ‘

Holy St Alnoth, pray to God for us.
