St Guinoch

Today (13 April) we commemorate St. Guinoc (Gwynog, Winnoc, Winoc, Winnock or Guinoch) of Buchan, Scottish bishop (ca. 838). Not to be confused with Winnoc, abbot of Wormhoult (November). From Baring-Gould, Appendix vol 16: ‘Winoc or Guinoch was a bishop, and is said to have excommunicated the Scots in their war against the Picts, and to have assisted King Kenneth by his advice and prayers in a great battle, in which he completely broke the power of the enemy. He is said to have died about 838.’
Holy St Guinoch, pray to God for us.
