St Lelia

Today (11 August) we commemorate St. Lelia of Limerick and Kerry. Canon O’Hanlon mentions that she may have been the sister of St Munchin, patron of the diocese of Limerick – or possibly the sister of St Rush instead. Is her existence only inferred from placenames such as Killeely? In any case it seems that she is remembered locally, and there is still at least one church bearing her name.

Holy St Lelia, pray to God for us.
