St Frithebert of Hexham

Today (23 December) we commemorate St Firthebert (Frithbert, Fridebert, Frithubeorht), bishop of Hexham. He was consecrated by Abp Egbert in 735, succeeding St Acca. He held Cynewulf’s place at Lindisfarne while the abbot was imprisoned. And that is all.

Holy Father Frithbert, pray to God for us.
