troparia for 8 November

Today (8 November) in the calendar of the early western saints, with the troparia provided by M Lopez-Ginisty at Acathistes et offices orthodoxes, we commemorate SS Willehad and Clarus.

Tone 2 Troparion to St Willehad, bishop of Brême (+789)
Coming from Northumbria into Frisia,
You followed in the footsteps of St Boniface,
And of Willibrord, the bishop beloved of the Lord.
You preached the Gospel to the peril of your life,
In your see of Brême, with zeal and wisdom.
O St Willehad, pray to God for our salvation!

Tone 4 Troparion to St Clarus, priest (+396)
Companion of St Martin, in charge of novices,
You were a worthy disciple of your bishop,
Making the virtues of the Gospel
Bloom like splendid flowers along your path.
O St Clarus, wonderworker after the example of your master,
Pray to God that He have great mercy on us!

Holy Fathers of the Church, pray to God for us.
